Custom wine bottle stoppers and corkscrews are truly a collaborative effort between the customer and the artist. The customer chooses the stopper or
corkscrew, the type of metal trim, and the wood, while the artist creates the shape of the wooden handle. The shape that the wood takes is partially
due to the vision of the artist and partially due to the innate quality of the wood. Much in the same way that Michelangelo gradually chiseled away pieces of
marble to reveal the figures residing inside, our artist is bound to the inner story of the wood. The way the grain splits, the locations of burls and inclusions, and
the feel of the wood all play a role in the final shape. The wonderful thing about this process is that the piece emerges from the raw wood with the surprise
and delight of a new birth.
Choose from our Exotic Woods or if you have a sentimental piece of wood that you want memorialized, we can help make that a reality. For example, a
piece of the old homestead or vacation house is getting torn down; your church or school is being rebuilt; your Mom’s favorite old sewing machine has seen
better days; your Dad’s creaky rocking chair is being retired; that tree you and your grandfather planted is scheduled for removal or trimming. It's a beautiful
keepsake of a favorite memory for the entire family to cherish. Depending on the sample, the wood may need cutting, curing or stabilizing. Please contact us
